I'll preface this, if your proposal is not in the structure mentioned below, it will be removed.
Base Template:
Proposal Subject:
Proposal Explanation:
Reasoning/Justification - Why?:
Polling Type (by title):
Polling Parameters:
- PARAM 1 : VALUE
- PARAM 2 : VALUE
- PARAM 3 : VALUE
Polling Duration (in blockchain blocks):
Polling Majority To Pass (%):
Example:
Proposal Subject: TokenJenny lower fees for governance booths.
Proposal Explanation: The fee to sign up for a governance booth is currently 400 JENN. It should be lowered.
Reasoning/Justification - Why?: The price of JENN has gone up, as a result, it's twice as expensive to create a booth now.
Polling Type (by title): Fee To Vote
Polling Parameters:
- Polling Opens On Block : 17,000,000
- Minimum Held To Qualify : 200
- Block Snapshot Is Performed On : 16,999,050
- Fee Amount: 400
- Fee Sent To: JENN Single Stake Pool Party
Polling Duration (in blockchain blocks): 216,000 blocks = 5 days (60 seconds * 60 minutes * 24 hours * 5 days = 432,000 seconds / 2 second block times = 216,000 blocks)
Polling Majority To Pass (%): 40%
Why do we require so much information? Because folks aren't just agreeing on a subject. I might think a poll should be this type at this duration, while Johnny thinks it should be that type at that duration. This allows us to get an entire picture.
With that, a lot of folks proposing won't know what any of that is, so I'll list out the different polling types & their parameters with an explanation of how they work below (I will update this as new polling types are created):
Polling Type Title: Wallet Vote
Polling Type Explanation: This is the most basic of polls that can be created. The poll is registered, queued and when it opens, allows each wallet to have 1 vote - no matter if they're holding a token, a quantity of a token, or anything. This should not ever be proposed or used for serious votes.
Polling Parameters: Polling Opens On Block
Polling Type Title: Token Hold Vote
Polling Type Explanation: Likely to be the most frequently used. The poll is registered, queued and prior to it opening, the owner performs a snapshot of the token being used for that poll and the holders of it. This snapshot is what is referenced when determining if wallets are eligible to vote. If a wallet is eligible, if they owned 200 tokens at the time of the snapshot, that is how many votes they will have. The votes are a 1:1 with tokens owned and recorded by the snapshot.
Polling Parameters: Polling Opens On Block, Minimum Held To Qualify, Block Snapshot Is Performed On
Polling Type Title: Wallet Hold Vote
Polling Type Explanation: Likely to be the second most frequently used. The poll is registered, queued and prior to it opening, the owner performs a snapshot of the token being used for that poll and the holders of it. This snapshot is what is referenced when determining if wallets are eligible to vote. If a wallet is eligible, if they owned 200 tokens at the time of the snapshot, their vote counts as 1. This is to eliminate a potential whale holding 40% of the supply from swaying the vote. This is my personal favorite, but it's of course up to the proposer.
Polling Parameters: Polling Opens On Block, Minimum Held To Qualify, Block Snapshot Is Performed On
Polling Type Title: Fee To Vote
Polling Type Explanation: This originated from discussions with Wizzard of the Cosmic Universe group. He uses a fairly unique voting style and I quite liked it, so it's an option for polling. Essentially, the poll is registered, queued and prior to it opening, the owner performs a snapshot of the token being used for that poll and the holders of it. This snapshot is what is referenced when determining if wallets are eligible to vote. If a wallet is eligible, then that wallet must pay a set fee at that point for their vote to be counted.
Polling Parameters: Polling Opens On Block, Minimum Held To Qualify, Block Snapshot Is Performed On, Fee Amount, Address Fee Is Sent To
